John Boy Branchland, WV Obituary, Death – With heartfelt sorrow and loving remembrance, we honor the life of John Watts, affectionately known as “John Boy,” who passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 69. A lifelong resident of Branchland, West Virginia, John Boy’s passing marks the loss of a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.
Born on January 27, 1957, in Hamlin, West Virginia, he was the son of the late John H. Watts and Stellia Clark Watts. Throughout his life, John Boy remained deeply rooted in family values, carrying forward the love and strength instilled in him by his parents. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lena Watts, as well as several siblings and extended family members, all of whom he held close to his heart.
John Boy was a man who found happiness in life’s simplest pleasures. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy. Whether sharing laughter, stories, or quiet moments together, those memories became the foundation of a life well lived. He also enjoyed relaxing with a game of Candy Crush, a pastime that reflected his easygoing and content nature.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold his memory dear, including his daughters, Sabrina Kay Watts and Samantha (Cody) Farley, as well as his treasured grandchildren Jodie, Cody Jr. “CJ,” Aubrey, and Tristin Farley. He is also survived by his siblings, extended family, and his best friend, Jim Adkins, whose companionship meant so much throughout the years.
Funeral services will be held at Freeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Ramey Cemetery.
